Despite several polite and friendly emails, they have steadfastly refused to refund my payment, so in future my friends and family will be using another hotel. Bizarre, really, because in the long term the loss will be theirs. ### Gordan Steyer a week ago · 5.0/5 A small and very charming hotel in a quiet residential area, yet close to the town center. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We felt very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful, with a good selection of both sweet and savory options. The fresh bread with nuts and raisins, the high-quality tea, and the small pastries with chocolate and vanilla were particularly delicious. The breakfast room is quiet and tastefully decorated. There's a small, cozy bar area that we used every evening. The room and bathroom aren't huge, but they're spacious enough. A refrigerator, kettle, and Nespresso machine are provided. The beds are comfortable, and there are two square pillows to choose from. Note: there's only one duvet. It's best to ask for two separate duvets beforehand or at check-in. I know it's easier and more economical for hotels to use one duvet, and it looks better in photos. However, I generally don't approve of this trend in hotels, as it doesn't reflect the sleeping habits of most guests. We were given two blankets, problem solved, and no more late-night tug-of-war over the duvet. Free parking is available 150 meters away. While there are plenty of free parking spaces on the street, parking is limited to a maximum of four hours during the day with a parking disc (parking without a disc is possible from 6:00 PM until morning). Carrefour and Lidl supermarkets are nearby, an 8-minute walk. The old city gate, Smedenpoort, is just a 12-minute walk away. From there, you're already in the city center with its shops and restaurants. It's not quite a walk to the old town center near Bruges' Belfry. We stopped for a quick beer at Bar Oswald along the way, then continued on our way. Bruges is a beautiful city with excellent food and even better beers. Everything is easily walkable, and you can also take a boat trip along the canals. Another highlight: its proximity to the North Sea. Ostend is only a 25-minute drive away. Park in the Ostend P2 NMBS parking garage at Station-Zee. It's right next to the train station. From there, take tram line 1 from Ostend Station towards De Panne Centrum (journey time 70 minutes). A day ticket costs €9 per person (use the De Lijn public transport app). The tram ticket is deducted from the parking fee, so we only paid €7.20 for the day in the garage. The drive from Ostend to De Panne takes you partly along the North Sea coast. At the end, you'll find a wide beach, expansive views, and fresh seafood. Bruges and the surrounding region are a fantastic destination, and the Hotel Olympia is a very good hotel in a great location. We'll definitely book it again. ### Christine Sprengel a week ago · 4.0/5 The hotel is very conveniently located, just 10 minutes from Bruges' historic center. The rooms are modern and spacious. The bathroom is small, and the shower is unfortunately poorly designed. Since there's no way to completely close off the shower area, you inevitably end up with water all over the bathroom – even if you only turn the shower spray on slightly. It's incredibly annoying! ### Christian S. a month ago · 4.0/5 The room was adequate and clean, but we stayed there in the summer with daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C. The rooms don't have air conditioning, and consequently, the room heated up to around 30°C. The fixed blinds were also counterproductive in this case, as they made effective ventilation impossible in the evenings when it cooled down and we could open the window. Blackout curtains were significantly more effective during the day. The hotel should definitely review its temperature control system for the summer months. It's probably fine at other times of the year. The hotel's location is good; the city center is a 15-20 minute walk away. Since we were there during school holidays, I can't comment on the parking situation at other times, but we were able to park easily and free of charge at the nearby school. The breakfast buffet is okay, neither particularly good nor particularly bad. The breakfast room, like our room, was too warm and poorly ventilated.
