Late-Night Drinks and Lively Bilbao Energy

Poza 40 is a popular bar and Mediterranean restaurant in Bilbao‘s Abando neighborhood, bringing a lively, social atmosphere to Poza Lizentziatuaren Kalea. It is especially appealing when the evening is stretching late: visitors looking for a relaxed nightcap, a drink with friends, or an informal stop after exploring the city will find plenty of energy here. The room can get busy, which suits guests who enjoy a genuine nightlife buzz rather than a quiet lounge.

Drinks are the main draw, with visitors singling out the good sangria and tinto de verano as highlights. These easygoing Spanish favorites make Poza 40 a natural choice for warm evenings, casual meetups, and anyone wanting to settle into Bilbao’s local bar culture. Thursday is another good time to call in, thanks to the bar’s drink deals, while the lively crowd keeps the atmosphere moving throughout the night. The setting works well for spontaneous plans, whether you are meeting friends for one drink or looking for somewhere with a little more buzz.

Poza 40 is a convenient choice for tourists and locals alike, especially when you are searching for a late-night drink after dinner. Expect a spirited, busy setting and service that can feel brisk during peak periods, so it is best approached as an informal nightlife stop with character. Come for the straightforward drinks, stay for the people-watching and upbeat mood, and enjoy a taste of Bilbao after dark. With its central Abando location and convivial feel, Poza 40 is an easy addition to a city night out.

They charged us €5 extra for a shisha because it was a match day, Switzerland was playing Bosnia and Herzegovina, what a match!

We went for drinks during Iberdrola's 125th anniversary celebration after seeing the Antonio Orozco concert. It just so happened they were having a pintxo pote (a Basque tapas and drink special), where you could drink whatever you wanted and get a pintxo for 3 euros. We had a second round, and since the pintxos were so beautiful and high-quality, we were completely satisfied. The atmosphere was great, and the waiters were friendly and professional. I'd give it a 10 out of 10. For 12 euros, we were completely satisfied.
