With big screens, stadium views and a lively football atmosphere, it is a natural meeting point for pre-match drinks, post-match conversation or an easy night watching the game with friends. The setting feels connected to the stadium rather than simply nearby, making every visit part of the experience. Football is central here, but the food gives Shearer’s plenty of appeal beyond the final whistle. Guests praise the generous portions and unexpectedly high standard of the **proper pub food**, from crisp chips and fresh salads to flavorful chicken skewers. There are vegan choices too, prepared with care, so mixed groups can settle in without anyone having to compromise. The menu is well suited to matchday, whether you want a substantial meal before kickoff or something easy to enjoy while following the action. The drinks selection is broad, pricing is approachable, and the team is consistently friendly, helpful and quick to serve, even when the bar is busy. Comfortable tables, free Wi-Fi and a welcoming crowd make it easy to stay awhile. With a strong following among football fans, Shearer’s is also a practical option when tickets are unavailable or your team is playing away: order a drink, find a view of the screens and soak up the atmosphere alongside fellow supporters. For visitors touring St James’ Park and locals seeking **live sport**, this is a dependable stadium bar with genuine Newcastle character. ## Listing information - **Listing type:** Service - **Category:** Matchday, Matchday Places, Premier League Matchday Places - **Feature:** Near Stadium - **Region:** Newcastle - **Address:** St. James' Park, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4ST, UK - **Coordinates:** 54.974581099999995, -1.6212010000000001 - **Rating:** 4.4/5 (1030 reviews) - **Phone:** +44 191 201 8688 - **Website:** https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/st-james-park/shearers ## Opening hours - **Monday:** 11:00–22:00 - **Tuesday:** 11:00–22:00 - **Wednesday:** 11:00–22:00 - **Thursday:** 11:00–22:00 - **Friday:** 11:00–23:00 - **Saturday:** 10:00–00:00 - **Sunday:** 10:00–20:00 ## Booking - **Booking available:** No - **Booking type:** Single Day ## Owner - **Name:** Gavin Smith - **Profile:** https://soccertravelhub.com/author/gavin/ ## Google reviews - **Google rating:** 4.4/5 (1030 reviews) ### Alfie Unknown in the last week · 5.0/5 Good good ### Frankie Frostick a week ago · 5.0/5 Wonderful Place to visit for a drink n something to eat ### Graham Pattison a week ago · 5.0/5 Great place to visit on match day ### Marshiya Rahman 2 weeks ago · 5.0/5 Shearer's Sports Bar & Lounge has a fantastic atmosphere, especially for anyone who enjoys a lively sports setting.
