Dorint Thermenhotel Freiburg

A truly wonderful hotel in Freiburg Haid, very well managed. The staff is very friendly, both at reception and in the restaurant. The food is wonderfully prepared and tastes excellent. The wine is exceptionally delicious. I would gladly return.

We were also at the hotel when the fire alarm went off around 3:30 a.m. There was no communication about the incident, nor any assistance from the staff. Guests had to fend for themselves; the situation was chaotic and disoriented. It was clearly a false alarm, as the fire department left without having done anything, but the peace and quiet of the night was severely disrupted, and sleep was impossible. The next day, there was no communication from the hotel whatsoever, and certainly no attempt to address the issue. All they said was that they were investigating the cause of the fire alarm, claiming it was a safety concern. However, a fire is only a safety concern if it's actually a fire. A technical malfunction or a deliberately triggered alarm doesn't qualify. Especially since, as another reviewer mentioned, this was the second fire alarm that week. Several guests complained the following day, but their complaints were completely ignored, and the situation was handled very poorly overall. Very disappointing, as we've been coming here for several years. One star for the outstanding breakfast.
