We loved the 10 course dinner with paired wines. Our waitress was a lovely Texan who was super friendly and gave us loads of tips for visiting Berlin. The food was remarkable - I felt like a child experiencing new wonderful things for the first time. Every mouthful was very obviously curated and special. The wine pairing complemented each course perfectly. I couldn't recommend Mami's enough - bravo!
Amazing food, lovely service, cozy setting. The dishes were creative and tasty. Wine pairing was excellent and very well explained. It was my husbands birthday, and he was warmly welcomed and congratulated + a candle in his dessert. It was a very warm and delicious experience.
visited Mami's tonight with high expectations, but unfortunately it ended up being one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in Berlin.
Shortly after eating the pimientos de Padrón, I started experiencing stomach pain. I initially ignored it, but once we left the restaurant I asked my dinner companion if he was feeling okay, and he told me he was also having stomach pain. I can't say for certain what caused it, but it was concerning that we both felt unwell after the meal. Looking back, I wish I had mentioned it to the staff before leaving.
Beyond that, I found the prices extremely difficult to justify. For a summer tasting menu in Berlin, the food felt surprisingly heavy and lacked freshness. The pimientos de Padrón were among the worst I've had and were particularly disappointing.
I was also disappointed by the wine experience. The house recommendation turned out to be very sweet, something that should have been mentioned when it was presented. For a restaurant that positions itself around wine, I would also expect to be offered a small taste before committing to a glass. Instead, the whole experience felt underwhelming and didn't live up to the restaurant's concept.
The atmosphere also wasn't for me. The clientele and overall vibe felt more like a tourist trap than a restaurant offering a thoughtful dining experience.
The most disappointing part is that I had to cancel the rest of my evening because I felt so unwell after dinner. Instead of enjoying the night, I ended up going straight home and writing this review from my bed. Living nearby makes it even more disappointing, as I'll now always associate this place with a very unpleasant experience.
I'm sharing this because I genuinely hope the management takes feedback seriously. Whether our illness was related to the meal or not, the overall experience, from the food and wine to the value and atmosphere fell far below expectations. I hope improvements are made for future guests
