Bacaro is a much-loved Italian restaurant on Castle Street, known for its relaxed vibe, varied menu, and smart approach to small plates. It’s the kind of place that works beautifully for a quick lunch, a long dinner, or a casual meet-up with friends. Guests regularly praise the fast, friendly service, great value lunch offers, and a menu that feels thoughtfully put together rather than predictable. Standout dishes like seabass, chicken milanesa, grilled scallops, and ox cheek lasagna help show off the kitchen’s range, while the drinks list adds to the appeal.
The atmosphere is a big part of why people keep coming back. The bar is stylish and inviting, with a buzz that feels easygoing rather than rushed. Portions are often described as generous for small plates, and diners appreciate that there’s something to suit different tastes. Whether you’re in for a quick bite or a full spread, Bacaro delivers a polished yet approachable dining experience in Liverpool city centre. For anyone looking for a dependable restaurant with Italian flair, strong service, and a lively local following, this is one to keep on the list.

in the last weekSecond visit to Bacaro on work trips... Wow. First impression is low-key, it's buzzy and busy but not noisy. Great interior, blending some older-world classic style (Murano drop chandeliers and nailhead trim stools) with more modern accents. Lighting is well-esigned to be gentle and diffused. V romantic and unobtrusive. Open kitchen at one end is fun but not dominant. Menu is varied and inclusive especially of gluten-free and meat-free options. I tried the trout last time which had been perfectly cooked and matched with the pea and jalapeno puree and crumb. Ended up having crispy-skinned sea bass with outrageous brown butter cauliflower puree this time, felt like had fallen through TV into MasterChef but prices better than local greasy spoon, how, where am I. Whipped ricotta, orange, fennel and chicory salad blew my mind and another repeat plate.I like the olives instead of grapes, chef Slow cooked harissa lamb tagliatelle evoked nsfw noises, thankfully empty seat between me and nearest neighbours. Different crostini on each visit, eat all of them. And whilst the focaccia melted in the mouth before, I skipped it to fit more dishes in this time, keeping room for chocolate salami (never seen anything like it, playful and delicious and not too robust to finish) Cocktails also great and returned to a Little Italy, audacious mix of tequila and vermouth, have been playing with this liquor/liqueur at home now for months, thank you Was happy wiggling all through meal. Service was amazing also, was kept an eye on but not crowded or rushed. Considering moving to city so can become my local, I do not generally write gushing reviews but holy mackerel, you wouldn't get food like this at these prices on a weekday lunch offer where I live and officially favourite restaurant in country. Thanks catso che squisito.
