We specifically found Rosa Negra while searching for restaurants participating in Miami Spice and made our reservation based on that. Nowhere during the process was it made clear to us that they do not offer the Miami Spice menu on Saturday nights. We only found this out after making the reservation, driving to the restaurant, being seated, and then waiting over 30 minutes just to be greeted by our waiter. By the time we were actually served, we had been sitting there for well over 40 minutes. Only then did we learn that the Miami Spice menu—the entire reason we chose this restaurant—wasn’t available on Saturday nights. Had that been clearly communicated when we were looking for Miami Spice restaurants and making the reservation, we simply would have gone somewhere else. To make matters worse, everything was extremely overpriced for what we received. We were charged $10 for water. We ordered two sangrias that tasted like they had virtually no alcohol whatsoever—they genuinely tasted like juice. We also ordered an appetizer that essentially amounted to one tortilla chip topped with tuna. So after more than 40 minutes of waiting, what we ultimately had to show for the experience was a tiny appetizer, two overpriced glasses of what tasted like juice, and a $10 charge for water—all at a restaurant we specifically chose because we believed we would be having the Miami Spice menu. Between the lack of clarity regarding Miami Spice, the incredibly slow service, the $10 water, the tiny and overpriced appetizer, and the disappointing sangrias, the entire experience felt like an expensive waste of an evening. Miami has far too many excellent restaurants—and far too many restaurants genuinely participating in Miami Spice—to justify spending this much money for this kind of experience. I would not recommend Rosa Negra based on our visit, and I certainly would not return.
