This evening, my father and I walked here from the town hall, and based on the reviews, I was really looking forward to this restaurant. We're from Hesse ourselves and are used to traditional, upscale restaurants – perhaps that's why we pay particular attention to a friendly welcome.
We entered the restaurant on Sunday at approximately 8:27 p.m. The place was empty at that time. It's maybe 20 meters from the entrance to the bar/cashier. The head waiter and a woman were standing there. The waiter saw us come in and stopped, leaning against the counter.
We walked a few meters inside, slowed down, and waited to be greeted or offered a table. There was neither a "Good evening" nor an inquiry about whether we wanted a table – no greeting at all.
When we finally stopped and looked at him, he simply extended his arm and made a "Come here" gesture without a word, the kind you might make to a child. We found this kind of greeting extremely disrespectful to other guests.
... To be honest, we were stunned and disappointed. We made the "come here" gesture, the "no" sign, then turned around and left the restaurant.
Therefore, I cannot and will not comment on the food. But for me, a minimum level of hospitality begins at the door. Especially in upscale or traditional restaurants, such a reception is an absolute no-go for us!
Great atmosphere in the covered and air-conditioned courtyard, super attentive service and top-notch food. We always love coming back 🏽 Thank you to Angelo for the culinary experience.
