2 weeks agoFirst time in Toronto and first time out of the country. Service was friendly and prompt with whatever was needed. The location was perfect and easily accessible to anywhere we had planned to go. Lovely exterior and the interior was nice and modern. I had a junior room and it was perfect for a cozy stay and an unforgettable trip. Will absolutely be looking at staying here again on my next trip.

3 weeks agoI had a mixed experience here. My work had booked me into the basement room (001), unbeknownst to me. It would have been fine (though lacking in natural light), except there was some kind of giant utility closet in the room, which has the boiler and hot water tank for the entire building, and emitted an electrical humm the whole time. I felt like I was back on the plane. If you like white noise or are a good sleeper, it won’t be a problem. Unfortunately, I’m a light sleeper and was jetlagged on top of that, so the constant humming drove me crazy and kept me up all night with a headache. Management was prompt to respond, but couldn’t do anything about the noise, and they couldn’t offer me a different room until the last of the three nights I stayed there. Fair enough, but they weren’t the nicest about it – the person who came to the room, while polite, tried to insist that he couldn’t hear much of a noise (not helpful, and just made me more upset), initially claimed there were no rooms available on any for any of nights, and told me that I chose the basement room in any case (which is neither here nor there, because there’s nothing inherent about a basement room that would make it noisy!). There was some initial talk about compensation, but in the end (and after some promting from me) they offered C$50, which considering the room cost and the two sleepless nights is really not much. On the last night I was able to switch to a room on the top floor, which was very nice and much quieter. Had I been in that room from the beginning, I would only have compliments, besides the fact that there’s no closet or shelf space in the rooms. In short, if you’re a light sleeper, avoid the basement room. The utility closet could easily be soundproofed (I didn’t hear the humm in the bathroom with the door closed for instance), so if I were management, I would avoid booking more guests there until soundproofing is installed. The other rooms and the location is great (if you need to be downtown). Note that there are stairs to reach all the rooms.
