Smart, Convenient Stays at Holiday Inn Times Square

Holiday Inn New York City – Times Square by IHG is all about location and convenience, especially for travelers who want to make the most of a fast-paced New York City trip. Just a short walk from Penn Station and close to the Broadway theaters, this hotel is ideal for quick overnight stays, show nights, and train travel. Guests often mention how easy it is to arrive, check in, drop their bags, and head straight out to dinner or a performance. The in-house breakfast gets a nod for being a practical way to start the day before heading back into the city.

Stays here tend to appeal to people who value straightforward comfort over extras: functional rooms, solid service, and a secure-feeling environment in a busy part of town. Visitors also appreciate the city views from higher floors and the overall ease of moving between the station, theaters, restaurants, and nearby attractions. While it’s a large urban property and some parts can feel busy, the strong location is what makes it stand out. For anyone looking for a dependable Times Square hotel with easy transit access, this one is worth considering.

I would not book this hotel again. To get to the hotel, you have to walk through a public area. New York residents are allowed to sit here. If you want to go outside around 4 a.m. due to jet lag, you find yourself surrounded by addicts, homeless people, and people sleeping on the couches and smoking weed, which is not allowed in this area according to the rules. There is a security guard inside at night, but he stayed inside, so when I quickly went back inside myself, I said it wasn't safe, and the only thing she said was "I know...". Other security guards (2 men and a woman with long hair) were outside during the day and fortunately kept an eye on things. But all in all, you have to walk through this 24 hours a day, and that is not pleasant for two ladies alone. The location is fine, but it is a real shame about the public space behind which the hotel is situated. We found the bed comfortable to sleep on, and the air conditioning worked well. The rooms were also soundproof. The elevator is a disaster. 2 elevators for 33 floors. You sometimes stand waiting 15 minutes before it arrives. You only have a nice view on the top floors, so if you want this, I would book it.

Our stay at Holiday Inn Times Square turned into one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. In the middle of the night, the fire sprinkler system activated unexpectedly, forcing all guests to evacuate the building. We had to wake up in the middle of the night and walk down 32 flights of stairs. It was a frightening and exhausting experience, and we barely slept afterward. When we were finally allowed back into our room, we found it flooded with water. Our clothes, luggage, cash, and even our passports were soaked. We have photos and videos clearly documenting the damage caused by the flooding. The hotel acknowledged responsibility for the incident and sent us an email confirming that we would receive a refund of US$366 for one night of our stay. However, despite this written promise, we have still not received any reimbursement. We have contacted Booking.com and have been waiting far longer than the promised timeframe. Beyond the financial loss, this incident caused enormous stress, ruined our night, and significantly impacted our trip. We expected the hotel to take responsibility and resolve the situation quickly, but unfortunately that has not happened. We are extremely disappointed with how this matter has been handled. Until the promised refund is actually processed, we cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. If you value customer service and accountability when problems occur, you may want to consider staying elsewhere.
