We went with the signature tasting menu, and it was truly an amazing experience. Every course was beautifully presented, very tasty, and offered unique and interesting flavors that made the meal feel special from start to finish. The staff were also very friendly, professional, and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Of course, it’s on the expensive side, but considering the quality of the food, the creativity of the menu, the service, and the beautiful setting, I definitely think it’s worth it for a special occasion. Highly recommended!

in the last weekWe had free time after visiting the Cave of the Winds on the US side of Niagara Falls. My daughter wanted to visit the CN Tower, so we drove there on impulse. We failed to book the tower’s restaurant and luckily found Don Alfonso 1890 by chance. We didn’t know it was an upscale fine-dining spot and had never tried such refined food before. We still carried waterfall mist on us and arrived in casual clogs, yet the staff treated us warmly without judgment. Our server patiently explained all dishes, though his slight accent and fast pace made some details hard to follow. Every dish was beautifully crafted with rich flavors, and the romantic vibe is perfect for dates. Both indoor and outdoor views are lovely surprises. As US travelers paying with CAD, the exchange rate saved us nearly 30% — meals of this caliber cost far more back home. This accidental dinner was a wonderful trip highlight, we’re thrilled we found this hidden gem.

in the last weekMediocre food, disjointed service, small portions. Not a fulfilling experience and definitely not worthy of a Michelin star. Nice view but that was the best part. Service was very invasive, things removed from the table while we were eating. Food and drink delivered over my shoulder which was disturbing because I was by the window and could not see them coming. Various different people explained courses with no consistency. Sommelier was explaining courses before food arrived and then they were described again by the servers, I've never experienced that before. One server was also very difficult to understand. We had a table behind us being served a few minutes before us and heard the description very loudly before we then received the food on every course. All in all, not a Michelin experience of seamless service. The worst example of this was hearing the couple behind us having the same "special" dessert and present because it was their anniversary too. That took the intent away and left us not feeling special at all. The pasta course was so small we barely got a taste, the tuna was seemingly an expensive, nice cut but I would prefer it seared to preserve the quality, my wife got an end piece of the bison wellington which was noticeably smaller and not as good as mine. All the courses were very small and the meal seemed to end abruptly. The dessert was basically a tiramisu chocolate truffle the size of an individual chocolate. Finally, they flagged us as a no show to Opentable so now I have to provide info to resolve that.

We chose the Signature Tasting Menu, and every course was beautifully presented, creative, and full of incredible flavors. The atmosphere was elegant, the views were breathtaking, and the service was exceptional. Every member of the team was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the evening. The wine selection was outstanding and paired beautifully with the meal, making the experience even more special. Thank you to the entire team for making my husband’s birthday so memorable. We highly recommend Don Alfonso for anyone looking for an exceptional fine dining experience. We can’t wait to come back!
