this place has such a fun vibe. i really liked it. i just got an order of plain fries and they really hit the spot! friendly staff but if its busy you won't see the waitress for a while lol. the only con is the bathrooms are gross.

I normally don’t take the time to write negative reviews, but what happened during my visit deserves the attention of management. My issue is specifically with the conduct of a bartender named Maria. What should have been a normal night out became an unnecessarily hostile and uncomfortable experience because of the way she chose to interact with me. There is a major difference between a bartender having a bad night and a bartender behaving aggressively toward a customer. The eye-rolling, dismissive attitude and disrespectful way I was spoken to were already completely inappropriate for someone working in hospitality. What crossed the line for me, however, was being threatened with being slapped and being told not to come back. No customer should have to wonder whether an employee serving them is going to become verbally or physically confrontational. I am not writing this because I want Maria fired, embarrassed, or personally attacked. I am writing it because management should know how one of their employees is representing their establishment when dealing with customers. Hospitality requires professionalism, self-control and the ability to de-escalate situations—not escalate them. I sincerely hope management speaks with Maria about what occurred and treats this as an opportunity for accountability and improvement. People can learn from mistakes, but that starts with someone addressing the behavior instead of allowing it to become normal. I would be willing to return to Black Bear because I don’t believe one employee necessarily represents an entire establishment. But I would absolutely think twice about returning if I believed this kind of treatment toward customers was considered acceptable. Management: please take this seriously. A customer should never leave your establishment feeling intimidated by a member of your staff.

The food and drinks were genuinely great, but I can't ignore what I saw. Tiny rats running around the front outdoor seating area while I was trying to eat. Management needs to get pest control out there immediately. Hard to enjoy $29 buffalo wings when rodents are scurrying nearby.
