The accommodation is completely noisy. The room itself is okay, but cold and uninviting. There's no lamp and no closet to store anything.
But the far worse thing was the incredibly incompetent and rude guy on the phone at the accommodation. I had called ahead to clarify whether, if I booked an extra night, the bookings could be combined so I wouldn't have to check out. This was assured and confirmed, and I booked immediately. When we arrived, we suddenly couldn't get into the room with the code and stood outside for ages trying everything. (By the way, it's also worth mentioning that the screen at the entrance is malfunctioning and keeps switching off!!!) On the hotline, the guy then claimed that nothing had ever been discussed regarding combining bookings. He said he knew this for sure because he was the only one on that phone. Instead of helping me get back to the room after I audibly said, annoyed and stressed, that we were in a hurry, he continued to deny everything and demanded proof of my "claims." Abysmal service and customer support.
Go somewhere else, people!
City Rooms Dortmund is centrally located and perfectly adequate for a one-night stay.
However, I would recommend bringing your own pillow, as the one provided was not at all comfortable and didn't offer sufficient support for the neck or head to allow for a comfortable sleeping position.
