Our group of friends often enjoys eating here. The schnitzel, burgers, and salads are all of good quality. They also have good vegetarian and vegan options. The foodie in our group especially praised the excellent sugo.
I booked a non-refundable rate but had to change my travel plans approximately 48 hours before arrival. I contacted the pension to politely request a goodwill cancellation, fully respecting their cancellation policy.
Unfortunately, the communication was disappointing. During a telephone conversation, I was told that Booking.com controlled the refund process and that the pension could not authorize a refund. However, Booking.com later confirmed in writing that the decision rested entirely with the property and even offered to waive its own commission to facilitate a goodwill refund.
Following my final email, the owner contacted me by telephone. They explained that, as a small family-run pension, they were unwilling to absorb the financial loss and believed that Booking.com, as the much larger company, should bear the cost instead. My credit card was then charged in accordance with the cancellation policy.
The property was entirely within its rights to enforce its cancellation policy. My disappointment lies not with the policy itself, but with the lack of transparency and the changing explanations I received throughout the process.
As we never stayed at the pension, I cannot comment on the rooms, food or the quality of the accommodation itself. This review relates solely to my experience of the customer service before arrival.
