Kadikoy Ferry Station is a lively gateway between Istanbul’s Asian and European sides, set beside the square and waterfront in Caferağa. As one of the city’s busiest transport points, it serves daily commuters, sightseeing visitors, and anyone looking for a scenic way to move around the city. Connections to other public transport options make the terminal a practical starting point for exploring both sides of the Bosphorus.
The terminal is busy but well organized, with places to sit before boarding, nearby kiosks, and straightforward access to ferries heading toward destinations such as Eminönü. Using an Istanbulkart makes it easy to combine ferry crossings with metro, tram, train, and bus journeys, offering an affordable alternative to traveling entirely by road. Friendly staff and frequent departures help keep the experience simple, even during a busy day.
The journey itself is part of the appeal. Step outside for fresh sea air, listen for the seagulls, and enjoy open-water views as the ferry moves between continents. Sunset and evening crossings are especially memorable, while the onboard atmosphere, with places to sit and refreshments available, turns an ordinary commute into a distinctly local Istanbul experience. Bring a light windbreaker if you plan to sit outside, and allow a little extra time to enjoy the Bosphorus views and waterfront photography before or after your trip.

a week agoTaking the ferry was actually one of the nicest ways to see Istanbul. You get a completely different view of the city from the water with Galata Tower and the shoreline in the background. The ride was comfortable and the views along the way made even a normal crossing feel like part of the trip.
