The restaurant has a well-earned reputation, so I came in with fairly high expectations. The broth served with the Tafelspitz was excellent—deep, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the meat itself was disappointing. It was much too lean for Tafelspitz and, as a result, quite dry. For a restaurant so well known for this dish, I expected a more succulent cut with enough fat to give it the tenderness and richness that make Tafelspitz special. The dessert was the biggest disappointment. It did not taste freshly made and was served cold in a way that strongly suggested it had been refrigerated rather than freshly prepared.
