Once upon a time, perhaps in the era of hard-copy travel guides, before Airbnb and a variety of hotel options, La Favia might have been a pleasant surprise in gritty Milan. Unfortunately, this accomodation’s time seems to have come and gone, and the property has simply stopped trying. The aesthetic intent is still faintly visible if you look closely, most notably through a few collection-worthy art exhibition catalogues and one or two truly interesting interior pieces scattered about the room. But much like a fading mid-career artist living off past prestige, the property now relies entirely on its outdated reputation to excuse active neglect. The gap between the curated online narrative and the physical infrastructure is impossible to ignore. A forensic look at the room reveals stark deferred maintenance. See for yourself in the pictures. - Heavy black mould accumulation throughout the bathroom, on ceilings and roller blinds (not limited to the bathroom) - The synthetic floorboards at the balcony threshold are badly water-damaged and peeling up at the seams. Many others throughout are similarly damaged, uneven and in need of replacement - Renovations clearly not performed by a professional, now failing and in need of repair. If you expect modern room standards, functioning maintenance, and baseline hygiene alongside past praise, especially at this price point, you should and will be severely disappointed.

We stayed at LaFavia in two different rooms and got two very different experiences. In room #1, you are next to the street, very noisy, the tramway basically runs through the window every 5 minutes, AC worked 2/10, next to the kitchen so there's noise at about 7:45am too. Not super pleasant. Would not recommend that room. In room #4 though, you are in a little paradise in the courtyard. Very calm, private patio, smaller bathroom, AC worked well. Incredible experience. Would totally recommend that room to anyone.
