Nice cozy place, good location, neat and clean rooms, quiet convenient to get there and easy digital key access

I’ve been staying at Hayes Valley Inn since 2018 after I moved away from SF because I used to work in Hayes Valley and would look up at their kitchen from the corner of Hayes and Gough and watch Inn guests people-watch while eating their breakfast. And at night, we’d chat with visitors who would wander into Dobb’s for a drink. It used to be a hospitable b&b with check-in desk, breakfast spread, and hotel workers on-site. COVID changed that and it seemed like the Inn changed ownership. Less human interaction and no breakfast spread. Nonetheless, I continued to stay there every trip and my husband and I even stayed there when we got married. We walked to city hall and back in our wedding attire. I recently booked a trip through Booking.com for my first weekend away from my toddler and husband and had to change the dates. While the Inn allowed me to rebook twice since they have rooms available, the price to add on an extra night was steep in comparison to the price listed on Booking and even on their website. Their reasoning was that I was rebooking closer to my trip date. I checked 3 times within an hour span of adding on the date and the prices were still significantly less than the amount I was being charged even on the Hayes Valley Inn website. When I messaged the Inn about this, the only response I got was “the room price changes everyday”. So it’s still cheaper than the price they rebooked me at every day not just within the hour I rebooked it? I requested a full refund because I’d rather spend the same amount or more at a hotel with a private bathroom or with breakfast included. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here, the state of the Inn and their hospitality has declined. UPDATE: I received a reply for this Google review but not from a manager. Absolutely ridiculous.

This hotel is ideally located in San Francisco at a very affordable price, making it convenient for exploring the city. The common areas were very clean thanks to the housekeeping staff, who were both efficient and friendly. Our room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels provided every day. The room was small but adequate and comfortable for a few nights. Unfortunately, a shared bathroom means you have to be mindful of other guests' manners. During our stay, we consistently had to clean the bathtub before showering in the evening because it was covered in hair, toiletries, and other cosmetics. The same was true for the toilet, which was frequently clogged. This wasn't the staff's responsibility (the housekeeper was excellent), but it's something to be aware of before staying there. We also regretted the lack of a stovetop in the kitchen, making it impossible to cook unless you were limited to the microwave and kettle. Finally, there is no staff on site to greet you; everything is self-service, which is convenient upon arrival but not ideal for the duration of your stay. An internet connection is required to activate your room key. You always need your phone to access your room, which isn't very practical.

Humming noise coming underneath my floor and will make it really hard for you to fall asleep!!
