Union Square Plaza Hotel – 10-Night Stay (11/07/25–11/17/25) Total Paid: $1,255.10 Our stay at this hotel was one of the most disappointing and unnecessarily stressful experiences we've had. To begin with, housekeeping never cleaned our room a single time during our 10-night stay. The only time the housekeepers entered was unannounced while we were asleep, which is a serious safety and privacy concern. But the biggest issue came from a senior staff member, whose behavior was shockingly unprofessional. When we requested a late checkout, this person loudly announced to us that they had “told everyone not to grant you a late checkout,” speaking in a hostile and confrontational tone. As we were packing to leave, they even had housekeeping waiting outside our door, creating an extremely uncomfortable and pressured environment. This wasn’t a misunderstanding — it was deliberate and unnecessary rudeness from someone who clearly should not be in a customer-facing role. It’s unfortunate, because most of the staff were kind. But one person in a position of authority created an atmosphere of hostility that overshadowed the entire stay. Between the lack of housekeeping, the privacy violation, and the dismissive treatment at checkout, I cannot recommend this hotel. Management seriously needs to address how guests are being treated by those representing them. UPDATE – September 2026: Management responded to this review approximately nine months later, but unfortunately their response mischaracterizes the issue. I never stated that we were entitled to a late checkout. I fully understand that late checkout is subject to availability. My complaint was about how we were treated, including a senior staff member loudly telling us that they had “told everyone not to grant you a late checkout.” More importantly, the response does not address the fact that our room was not cleaned once during our 10-night stay. Explaining that housekeeping may knock on occupied rooms does not explain why no housekeeping service was actually provided for 10 nights. The issue was never simply that a late checkout was denied. It was the lack of housekeeping service, the unannounced entry while we were sleeping, and the unnecessarily hostile treatment we experienced at departure. After reading management’s response, I stand by my original review.

I had a wonderful time here! This hotel is one street into the tenderloin but it is nice! The guy at the front desk was always so helpful and I really like the water bottle station they had up front. Made my walks much much easier. The only thing I will add is if you face the street the view is really cool, but close your window at night as you are in the city and the city never sleeps.

The room was comfortabel,every day room was cleaned,fresh towels,garbage cleaned,just excellent. Service was normal,if you ask for an extra towel,you get one. Location,we liked it to walk,train,metro,tram,all nearby ,a few minutes.
